Esri Integrates LightBox Data to Expand Geocoding for Canadian Content

ArcGIS Users Can Now Access Newer and More Precise Address Information

REDLANDS, Calif., June 02, 2022 – To find, map, and analyze other forms of valuable geospatial information, industries need X and Y coordinates for place names. Users in many sectors are in possession of addresses or place names in various states of completeness, and they want to turn that information into actionable intelligence. To meet this need, Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, has partnered with LightBox, a real estate data analytics provider, to offer advanced geocoding solutions in Canada.

The service is available for both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Platform users. The LightBox enhancement will provide more precise geocoding for rooftop locations concerning addresses, subaddresses, or places with multiple units. ArcGIS Platform—a geospatial platform as a service—gives developers direct access to location services using the APIs and web frameworks of their choice, whether they’re supporting dozens of users or millions of them.

Following a May 31 release of ArcGIS World Geocoding Service, the collaboration between Esri and LightBox offers more precise geocoding solutions for ArcGIS users. Esri also provides advanced geocoding needs through ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS World Geocoder, and ArcGIS StreetMap Premium.

“LightBox, formerly DMTI Spatial, offers the market-leading addressing and sub-addressing solution for high precision geocoding,” said AJ Dunklau, General Manager for LightBox Location Intelligence Division. “Esri users will now be able to access this robust data, building on LightBox’s 20 years of Canadian location intelligence database development. Our partnership enables these users to benefit from accurate geocoding data and explore the broader Canadian data solutions that LightBox can provide.”

ArcGIS World Geocoding Service covers more than 90 percent of the worldwide population and delivers street-level geocoding for over 150 countries. The new alliance with LightBox further underscores Esri’s commitment to improving user experience both inside and outside of the US.

“We are excited to bring our users the best available address information for Canada,” said Robert Jensen, Esri’s Product Manager for Geocoding. “Having exceptional coverage, currency, and accuracy of addresses, enables users who rely on spatially precise addresses to make effective decisions. The integration of data from LightBox into ArcGIS gives them the confidence in Esri’s ability to provide a powerful geocoding experience.”
