Why can’t the police do what Bellingcat does

I was also asked last week ’why can’t the police do what Bellingcat does’. Again, not a fair statement. The process, chain of custody of digital evidence, etc. set a whole different level of requirements. And law enforcement can’t go public real time with findings. /3
